9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Fri & Sat)
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Sun)
Veterans Park and Athletic Complex
College Station, Texas
Admission: FREE
During each day of the event, members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Sul Ross Camp 1457 will conduct a historical reenactment of the typical camp life of soldiers during the American Civil War. Local Confederate and Federal reenactors will bivouac around the Civil War Memorial site at Veterans Park and perform demonstrations throughout the day including group marches and the loading and firing of muskets and artillery pieces.
A field hospital will also be set up in the vicinity with reenactors staged to show how the facility may have operated during the Civil War era.
Visitors are encouraged to interact with participants throughout the campsite, and parents are encouraged to attend with their children to learn more about this unique time in our nation’s history. Visitors are asked to treat the site as they would a museum, since many of the items on display have been carefully preserved over time.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Bill Boyd, Sul Ross Camp Commander, at docbill72@gmail.com or call 979-693-8192.
